2009 Memorial Gallery to Special Cats: Salym

My kitty Salym was a handsome black cat who I just recently had put to sleep on Feb. 16th 2009. He had kidney disease and his little body just could not take the disease any more. Instead of subjecting him to numerous stressful days in the hospital - I chose to get him put to sleep, to end his suffering. Salym did not like the Vet at all.

In 1992, I found Salym when he was a kitten, in the road, he had been hit by a car.

I noticed he was still alive when he looked up and I saw his big beautiful yellow eyes, that is what made me turn my car around and go back to get him. After three days in the Animal Hospital I went to pick him up and he became my baby boy.

Salym was a very peaceful, laid back, cool and sweet cat. Some things would freak him out though. He did not like going outside that much except for the screened in porch, and even that would make him a little nervous. He liked being at home with me, my boyfriend and the other kitties. He gave me 17 years of unconditional love with purring, head butts and kitty kisses. He would always snuggle and sleep with me, he always made me feel better. I never felt lonely with him near me.

My heart aches for him and will for a long time. I will always love my Salym, my baby boy, my guardian, my friend, and my son.
