How to Troubleshoot a Samsung Yepp YP-P2
- 1). Plug in the Yepp YP-P2 and see if you can turn it on; the battery may just need to be charged. You can plug it into an electrical socket or into a USB port on your computer. The battery charge level is displayed in the top right corner of the Yepp's screen.
- 2). Press the reset button, which is on the back of the device close to the bottom. You will need a small, pointed object such as a paper clip to do this.
- 3). Look at the auto power off options if you want the player to stop turning itself off when it's inactive. You can see what the current setting is and adjust it by tapping "Settings" from the main menu, then "System," then "Sleep." You can turn off the "Sleep" function, but this will drain the battery more quickly.
- 1). Check the "Hold" switch on the left side of the device. If the switch is set to the on position, the player will not respond to input until you turn the switch off.
- 2). Plug in the player to see if the battery has died. You should be able to turn on the player while it's plugged in, even if the battery is dead.
- 3). Press the reset button, which is on the back of the device close to the bottom near the right side. You will need a small, pointed object to do this, such as a paper clip.
- 1). Check the USB cord and make sure it's securely connected to your computer and to the Yepp MP3 player.
- 2). Check the available memory on the player to make sure it can accommodate additional music. You can see the available memory by selecting "Settings" from the main menu, then "System," then "About."
- 3). Run the "Windows Update" utility on your computer to ensure that all necessary updates and drivers are installed. You find the utility by clicking the "Start" button and beginning to type "Windows Update" in the search box. Then click the utility when it displays and select "Check for updates" in the left of the utility window.
- 4). Reset your computer.
- 1). Ensure that the headphone jack is securely connected to the MP3 player. If it's not entirely inserted, you may hear distorted audio or no audio at all.
- 2). Plug another set of headphones into the MP3 player. If the new pair works, then you most likely need to replace the other pair.
- 3). Connect the player to your computer and sync the file or files again that don't play properly. The files may have been damaged, especially if you removed the USB cord before the synchronization was complete. Samsung recommends you use the EmoDio software on the Yepp YP-P2 installation CD for synchronization.
