Highest CD Rates in Connecticut

Along with providing CD rates, it is fun to give a little something else.
Many tourist attractors use the slogan, "CONNECTicut -- Full of Surprises".
So I wonder if their certificate of deposit rates will be a basket of happiness like a box of chocolates or a box of bitters.
Enjoy the presents, open carefully.
Metlife Bank is based in Bridgewater.
Their FDIC # is 35055.
They are about $14BB in assets.
That is pretty astonishing given they were started in 1999, but of course they do have an insurance company that I'm sure provided access to lots of depositors.
Of course who wouldn't love a bank that has Snoopy as a mascot.
Anyway, you're here for the Rates.
Their CD rates really aren't much to speak of.
They have a 1.
25% for a 1-year CD and a paltry 1.
90% for 5-years.
They do have 3 1/2 stars from Bauer.
People's United Bank is based in Bridgeport.
Their FDIC # is 27334.
They are about $20BB in assets and were founded in 1988.
The only rate worth speaking about is the 5-year at 2.
75%, but even that isn't the best out there.
They do have a 5-star rating from Bauer.
Next is Naugatuck Savings Bank.
FDIC# is 18198.
Sadly, only their 5-year CD is competitive at 3.
00% APY.
It seems that most banks are willing to "pay" up on the 5-year CDs, but not the shorter-term.
Hmm, makes you think they know something that we don't.
They have a 4-star rating.
Folks, listen.
Rates will go up at some point.
Unless the bank has a low penalty, I don't think the 5-year CDs make sense at this point.
If your willing to transact over the phone or online, you can find some shorter-term CDs (2Y and less) in the 2.
00% range.
A very close "sister" to the above, Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan, FDIC# 30365, has a 5-month liquid CD at 1.
00%.
They also have a 4-star Bauer rating.
That doesn't seem like too bad of a deal considering where most CD rates are in the 90-Day to 180-Day range.
Since it doesn't have a penalty, if rates move up quickly, you can close it and take advantage quickly.
And now a disclaimer.
We strive for accuracy, but are only human after all.
So please verify federal insurance, rates, and ratings with any institution you want to make deposits at.
