OmniGold Floor Finishing
- 1). Apply painter's tape around the perimeter of the room on the floor trim or baseboards. This will prevent the stain from staining the trim work.
- 2). Shake the can of OmniGold finish from side to side and up and down to mix it thoroughly. This will take about five minutes of shaking the can.
- 3). Pry the lid off the floor finish with a flat screwdriver. Pour the finish into a paint pan. Dip a paint roller on an extension pole into the finish. Roll it in the pan on the shallow side to remove excess finish so it does not drip off the roller.
- 4). Apply the finish by rolling it on the floor in the direction of the wood grain in one corner. Work in long strokes in the same manner as vacuuming. Roll the finish on in a thin even application working from one side of the room to the other and then in another section. Work backward in sections so you do not step in the wet finish.
- 5). Let the finish dry completely for about two hours in 50 to 70 degree temperatures.
- 6). Place a 60-grit screening pad on a floor buffer. Turn the buffer on and move it side to side to sand the floor down from one corner of the room in sections and rows to the other end of the room. Repeat this process with the 80-, 100- and 120-grit screening pads.
- 7). Vacuum all of the sanding dust off the floor. Wipe the entire floor area with a tack cloth to remove any residual sanding dust.
- 8). Repeat this process to add an additional two to three coats of the floor finish. Pull the painter's tape off the trim work after the last coat is entirely dry.
