Trust me when I say that they are patient teachers (I learned I was not so skilled at making homemade pasta), and they will be right there by your side coaching you throughout your class. The groups are fairly small, maxing out at about 18 people, so there's lots of personalized attention. These are also very hands-on classes, unlike some schools that take a demonstration type approach.
From pasta to soups to Indian Food, choose from a bunch of different class types. There are also several classes focused on healthy eating. Irwin Street Cooks is a fairly new school on the scene, and they are open to special requests for classes as well.

Hal's Kitchen has a culinary boot camp series to take you all the tricks of the trade, or lots of single classes to choose from. They focus on making cooking fun.
Some of their unique options include Ladies Night classes on Thursdays, Date Night classes, and cheeky themes like "Superbowl Dinner" or "Happy Birthday Mr. President" (JFK's birthday dinner recreated) for President's Day. You can even learn to make sushi with guest chefs from local sushi bars!

Perhaps the ultimate foodie cooking class, rub elbows with Atlanta culinary rock star Kevin Rathbun in a intimate, three-hour small group class. These are for serious fans and food junkies, and they come with a $400 price tag. The cost of the class includes cooking instruction, a four-course meal with wine pairings (you get to invite a guest to dinner as well) and a Rathbun's "logo item." It's really not a bad value considering you get dinner and wine for two at a pretty classy joint - but it's quite an investment if, say, a couple wants to take the class together.
