The Arizona Balloon Classic held its inaugural event in 2011 in Chandler. In 2012 it moved to downtown Gilbert. Locals who have lived here for a while know that we have had several balloon festivals in the area in the past, most notably the Thunderbird Balloon and Air Classic which took place in the northwest part of town, and later in north Scottsdale. In recent years several balloon festivals have come and gone.
Since this is the second year for this event with this organizer, let's hope it repeats for many years to come! Who doesn't love hot air balloons?
