Advice on How to Get Rid of Scars

    • 1). Consult a doctor about getting a dermabrasion procedure. Dermabrasion is a treatment that removes the surface layers of the skin. After the dermabrasion is performed, new skin layers replace the old scarred skin. Do not attempt to perform a dermabrasion on your own. Consult your medical doctor for treatment.

    • 2). Get a chemical peel. Chemical peels penetrate through the skin and remove the scarred outer layer. New, healthy skin will then replace the scarred skin. Chemical peels work best on sun damage scars, acne, superficial scars, and skin pigmentation. You can also use at-home chemical peels to treat skin scars. Doctor Jeanine Downie, a dermatologist, recommends using chemical peels that have glycolic and lactic acid. However, Downie also recommends consulting a certified dermatologist to avoid accidentally causing more damage to your skin.

    • 3). Restore collagen in your skin. Collagen is a protein found inside the skin that gives the skin flexibility and a smooth appearance. You can get a collagen injection treatment to restore skin texture damaged by scars. Contact your doctor to get collagen injection treatments. Tell the doctor exactly what kind of scars you have to receive the right type of collagen injection.

    • 4). Perform natural scar removal techniques. You can use lemon, oranges, tomatoes, cucumbers, bananas, and essential oils to remove scars. For example, simply cut a lemon in half and rub it gently on the scar. You can also heal scars with aloe vera and tea tree oil. Tea tree oil removes acne scars and does not inflame the skin.
