- 1). Trace a square on the wall using a ruler as a straight edge. Have the bottom of the flap approximately the same height from the ground as the cat's underside. Make sure the pencil template is a perfect square on your surface.
- 2). Drill a hole into each of the four corners of the square as insertion points for the jigsaw.
- 3). Cut along the square pencil drawing using a jigsaw and remove the square section of the surface.
- 4). Smooth out the edges of the hole with sandpaper.
- 5). Place the cat flap over the hole in the orientation you intend to install it. Create pencil spots through the screw holes in the flap as a guideline.
- 6). Remove the cat flap and drill holes. Reinsert the cat flap and screw in the portal using the holes you have just drilled.
- 7). Caulk the outer edges of the cat flap to keep outside air and insects out.
