How to Pay Quarterly Taxes to the IRS
- 1). Enroll in EFTPS by going directly to the EFTPS website (see Resources). You must enroll yourself as an individual, business or a federal agency. You must include your name, Social Security number, address, and routing and account number for either your savings or checking account.
Alternatively, you may enroll by calling Internal Revenue Service at 800-555-4477 for businesses or 800-316-6541 for individuals. You may also visit a local IRS office. - 2). Wait for your confirmation letter in the mail. This letter will confirm your enrollment and contain your PIN, which you will need to pay your taxes online. You will also need to call 800-982-3526 to get a temporary Internet password.
- 3). Pay your quarterly taxes. Go back to the EFTPS website and select "Make a Payment." Enter in your Social Security number or Employer Identification Number, the PIN number and password. Select "Login." You will then be prompted to select a permanent password. Enter your payment information when prompted and include the amount of the payment. Submit your payment and make sure to print out your payment confirmation page.
Alternatively, you may pay your quarterly taxes by visiting a local IRS office.
