Easy Access And-Or Ignorance?
I have been an eager follower of the new updates when it comes to identity theft.
It is marked as one of the fastest growing crimes in the United States of America and deserves a serious treatment.
Many have been victims but only few made it to the justice they deserve.
It cannot be totally blamed to the poor means of giving out justice but with the suspects' great way of hiding from the claws of the law.
At most cases, they can easily run away, leaving no marks except for the negative things they casted to their chosen victims.
So what made them so numerous? Is it the easier access on everything or just the ignorance of man when it comes to the ways and means to protect themselves from such? My answer to this is both.
Easier Access With the advent of technology, almost everything is in our reach.
We have come to the point where the borderline between private and public can be compared to a single hair stand.
Everything and every person can now be accessed with little protection over it.
Or if there are available protections, this may either be too unnoticed and that people are not aware that some thing like that existed or that it is merely taken for granted.
With this, all our information, especially in the social networking sites, can be subject to identity theft.
It is readily made for the basic copy then paste process of small time identity thief.
While some, those who are filled with too much greed in them that motivated them to commit the things like identity theft, will not find sufficiency with what they can have through copy and paste and will still pursue a deeper way of penetrating our lives.
This is then the fear brought about by the easy access granted by the advent of technology.
Slowly, people are realizing that the birth of this easy access is also the birth of their manipulative instincts Ignorance We have already live by the truth that technology can cause so much negativity, in this context, that is identity theft, yet we seem to play little role in our own protection.
We seemingly live a happy go lucky kind of lifestyle that results to the disasters that we blame to others.
We then fail to see that it is us who create and nourish the problems we face.
We fail to understand that we can protect ourselves.
We fail to internalize the thought that prevention is better than cure.
We fail to act on rational thinking and simply rely with our instincts.
We have many ways and means to protect ourselves.
At the very first level, we have the capacity to decide what to say and do, how much information should we keep and how much should be given out to build harmonious relationships.
We have that but fail to use the things that we have in full content.
Because of this, we then become ignorant until the wake up call that we have been victims of identity sinks in our brains.
Only then will we take things seriously and regret all the what- if's.
