How to Convert a WMA File to an AAC File
- 1). Download and install iTunes if you do not already have it on your computer. Open iTunes. Click on "Edit" and select "preferences..." In the Preferences menu click on "Import Settings..." under the "General" tab.
- 2). In the pop-up window select "AAC Encorder" in the "Import Using" menu. You can also select your audio quality in this window as well. After you are done making your choices click "Ok."
- 3). Move the WMA into into a playlist or your iTunes library. iTunes will automatically create a AAC version of the WMA file. The new AAC file will be located in the artist directory of your iTunes library. If there was no artist labeled iTunes will create a directory called "Unknown Artist" and put it there.
- 1). Download and install Free Audio Convert Wizard. Open the program and click the "Add.." button. Select which song or songs you want to convert then click "open."
- 2). Under "Convert To" select "To AAC." On this screen you can also select where you want the file to be created and the quality of your AAC file. When you are done making your choices click "Convert..."
- 3). Free Audio Convert Wizard will convert the file or files automatically. When it is done you can open up the folder where the files are, convert more files or close the program.
- 1). Download and install Switch. Open the program.
- 2). Select AAC in the output format menu in the bottom-left side of the window. If you want to change the audio quality click on "Encoder Options..."
- 3). Click "Add file(s)" and select the file or files you want to convert. When you are done click "Open."
- 4). Click "Convert." Switch will convert the WMA file to the AAC format. It's default setting is to create the new file in the same folder as the original.
