How to Copy SMS Messages to a Computer From a Motorola Razr Z3
- 1). Navigate to the Motorola website and download the Motorola USB Drivers for Windows application (see Resources). Save the file to your computer.
- 2). Click "Start" then "Computer." Open the folder where you saved the file from the Motorola site. Double-click the file to launch the installer utility. Accept the License Agreement and follow the prompts to install the USB drivers on the machine. Restart the computer, if prompted.
- 3). Navigate to the Brothersoft website and download the Motorola mobile Phone Tools application (see Resources). Save the installation file to your computer. Double-click the file to start the Installation Wizard.
- 4). Click and select an installation language from the list, then click "Install mobile Phone Tools." Click "Yes" to accept the License Agreement, then click "Next." Enter contact information for the application, then click "Next."
- 5). Click the "Complete" installation option, then "Next." The Installation Wizard installs mobile Phone Tools on your PC. Click the "OK" button when prompted to go to the Motorola website and register the application. Alternatively, click the "Register Later" button to skip the step. Uncheck the "Automatically run mobile Phone Tools" option. Click "Finish" to close the Installation Wizard.
- 6). Connect one end of the USB data cable to the Razr Z3 phone and the other end to an empty port on the computer. Power on the phone and wait while Windows detects the connection and configures the USB driver on your computer.
- 7). Launch Motorola mobile Phone Tools on your computer. Wait while the program detects the connected phone, then click "Next." If the program does not detect the phone, click the "USB cable connection" option, then "Next." Wait while the program detects and connects to your phone.
- 8). Click the "Synchronize" icon on the function panel. The "Synchronize" icon has a series of three curved arrows that form a circle around a dot.
- 9). Click the "I would like to launch the Sync Wizard" option, then "OK." The Synchronization Wizard displays on the screen. Click "Backup Phone data," then "Next." Wait while the program retrieves data from your phone.

Click "Tools," "Send/Receive," then "Retrieve SMS." The application imports all SMS messages saved on the phone to your computer and stores them in the inbox of the mobile Phone Tools program. - 11
Click the "Inbox" folder icon in the program to display a list of imported SMS messages. Highlight a message and press the "F4" key to open it.
