How to See What Is Happening on an iPad Remotely

Via HDMI

Plug the adapter into the iPad's docking port. If you have a newer iPad with a "Lightning" connector, connect a separate HDMI cable into the adapter's HDMI socket.

Connect the HDMI end of the adapter or cable into a high-definition monitor.

Turn the iPad and monitor on. If the iPad is connected correctly, its video appears on the monitor immediately.

Via Apple TV

Plug the HDMI connector into the Apple TV device.

Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to a high-definition monitor.

Turn the Apple TV, iPad and high-definition monitor on.

Double-click the "Home" button on the iPad. It displays a row of app icons. Swipe the row from left to right twice until the "AirPlay" icon appears.

Tap the "AirPlay" icon. The app displays a list of AirPlay devices, including the Apple TV.

Tap the Apple TV entry in the Airplay app, then set the "Mirroring" switch to "ON."

Press the iPad's "Home" button. Video from the iPad appears on the monitor.
