Georgia houses a multitude of fauna and flora and is home to animals like the white-tailed deer, mockingbird, Brown Thrasher and several species of reptiles and amphibians. Activities and crafts provide a good medium to educate children about preserving these creations of nature. Several centers in the state offer such activities for children. - This conservation center in Mansfield hosts annual youth birding competitions for kids and encourages school clubs, teams and scout troops to join. The center groups kids according to age to compete with fellow bird enthusiasts in counting the birds in the establishment. During this 24-hour competition, teams try to count as many bird species as they can in Georgia. An opportunity for youth to learn about the state's avian wildlife, the competition also helps students build bonds with fellow team members and meet new people.
The Charlie Elliot Wildlife Center also offers outdoor recreational activities for the whole family, such as fishing, shooting sports and archery.
