How to Install a Music Box
- 1). Remove the music box mechanism from its plastic case so that it is just the mechanical piece, known as the movement. This can be done using a flat-edged screwdriver.
- 2). Place the movement on a piece of paper and trace the edges. Mark the location of the mounting holes on the paper, as well.
- 3). Place the paper on the area of the box on which you want to mount the movement. Trace the paper onto the box using a pencil and mark the locations of the mounting holes.
- 4). Drill 1/8 inch mounting holes into the box. Drill a 1/4 inch hole in the area for the winder key.
- 5). Place the movement in the box and use 2 inch screws to attach it. Attach the winder key and twist it to ensure the music box works.
