How Do Relief India Trust Get Their Funding - Relief India Trust

An NGO which is a nongovernmental or a nonprofit organization operates independently of the state government. They are essentially a citizen based group which have their own means of generating funds for running the NGO. The Relief India Trust is organized locally, nationwide and countrywide to serve special social and political purposes for the betterment of the society.

NGOs rely on a variety of sources for meeting their financial need. Following are some of the sectors which require funding to operate smoothly:

Funding the running projects of the NGO.
Operational Cost
Salaries of the employees working in the NGO.
Cost for rent and billing of the building.
Other overhead costs.

The annual budget for NGOs can be million or sometimes billions of dollars depending on the scope of their operation. The Relief India Trust also has its annual budget in millions of dollars. Just like all other NGOs, the Relief India Trust also relies heavily on fundraising efforts for the existence and success of the organization. The funding sources of NGO can include either one or all of the following entities:

Money generated by the membership dues
Money can be generated by selling the goods and services of an NGO.
Collaborating with the private sector for-profit organizations.
Grants from locals
Money given by various philanthropic foundations.
The state and federal government can also contribute to the funds.
The last but not the least is the private donations which always generate the maximum number of funds more than any other means.

Most of the NGOs no matter wherever in the world they are operating rely heavily on private donors to contribute to their financial needs. A lot of millionaires in the world have a history of making generous contributions in the NGOs. It is critically important that the mission statement or the message of your NGO should reach these wealthy peoples who in one go can donate millions of dollars. All this depends if you have a good cause and a good infrastructure to achieve your goals and objectives. Nobody wants to donate their money where they think that it wont be properly utilized. Therefore, all the NGOs should always be prepared that how they will go to meet their expenses and how can they motivate wealthy people from all over the world to financially contribute to their cause.

Ted Turner, a wealthy businessman from the US once donated 1 billion dollars to the United Nations. It doesnt mean that small donations dont matter. It does a great deal when a larger number of people contribute no matter with whatever amount of money.

Despite the NGOs being independent from the state government, they still rely to some extent on government funding for proper functioning in order to achieve their goals. But sometimes governmental funding can become controversial as the public can think that it is meant to achieve some political objectives rather than the development goals.
