How to Take Care of a Mini Fridge
- 1). Place the mini fridge upright to avoid damaging the internal mechanics of the appliance.
- 2). Keep the thermometer at a medium setting. A high setting will result in all of the food freezing, while a low temperature setting will spoil the food.
- 3). Clean the mini fridge out at least once a week. Dispose of any spoiled foods. Wipe down the fridge to remove any spills. To kill bacteria, spray a household cleanser that has either bleach or ammonia on the interior surfaces, then wipe the fridge out with a wet rag.
- 4). Open a box of baking soda and place it inside. This will help to absorb any odors.
- 5). Defrost the mini fridge at least 24 hours before leaving the home for an extended period of time. Remove all items from inside, and then wipe the fridge clean. Place a towel underneath the fridge to absorb moisture. Turn off the mini fridge, then unplug it from the power source. Prop the door open and leave it overnight. Wipe down all excess moisture just before leaving. When the fridge is dry inside, close the door.
