Are They Any Good?
Water, dust, extreme cold and accidental dropping - these are all on the list of arch enemies of the average camera.
Now if your interest in photography is confined mainly to portraiture, where your work is done indoors in a controlled environment, then this article will probably not hold your attention.
However, if you are like us and you have a passion for capturing the Great Outdoors, then please read on.
The number one question we are asked when we tell people about our online store selling Waterproof, Dustproof and Shockproof digital cameras is 'But are they any good?'
Well the simple answer is 'Yes!'. These cameras, which by the way are all by brand names such as Canon, Panasonic, Casio, Pentax, Sony and Olympus, are all between 10 - 14 megapixels, with the average being around 12.
I would like to point out here that my husband took a photo several years ago with a 1.2 megapixel camera - and this photo was published in a book entitled 'Gallery of the Imagination'. Obviously if you tried to seriously enlarge that photograph, the result would be grainy. The higher the number of megapixels, the more a photograph can be 'blown up' without losing clarity.
If you are planning to enter competitions and have your work judged by experts then the more megapixels the better. But for your average family happy snaps these cameras are more than enough to give you consistently great results.
Just imagine how much more relaxing it would be not to have to worry about the kids dropping the camera in the water, or getting it covered in sand? Actually many of these cameras are even rated as Freeze proof, as well as Waterproof, Dustproof and Shockproof, so they will take a trip to the snow in their stride as well as the beach or the pool.
So if you're in the market for a new camera, come and pay us a visit and see what we have on offer.
