How to Get the Best Digital Cable Reception

    • 1). Subscribe to cable services through the digital cable company that offers the fastest cable service. As of 2009, according to Consumer Reports, the fastest cable service offered is Fios through Verizon and U-Verse through AT&T, which use fiber-optic cable. This is able to carry higher-quality signals at higher speeds then other, standard cable services. Other major companies such as Comcast are following suit, according to Manageability.org's website. Higher-quality forms of digital cable delivery may be offered in the future, as well. Keep up to date with the newest digital cable services and televisions that are being released, as image quality is constantly getting better in the home entertainment marketplace.

    • 2). Install the newest set-top box offered by your cable provider. Call the cable company you subscribe to regularly and tell them you want the newest set-top box they are installing in customers' homes, as these new models will be updated and changed regularly and will not be changed out for older, existing customers. However, this may cause the cable company to charge you more money in rental fees.

    • 3). Check your cable connections. Make sure the coaxial wire is not bent or cut as it runs from the cable box into the wall or from the wall to the cable box. Any damage to the cable itself can interfere with the digital cable reception. If there is damage to this cable, it should be replaced.
