Modern Sensibility Dasha by Integrity Toys

Modern Sensibility Dasha by Integrity Toys

It was wonderful to see Integrity Toys at IDEX for the first time! Collectors were thrilled to see some of Integrity's new 2011 doll line in person, and were doubly thrilled to see the first of Integrity Toys brand new FR2 (which stands for Fashion Royalty Squared) line of dolls.

FR2 takes the very popular Fashion Royalty dolls to a whole new level. Created by Jason Wu (well-known doll designer and a clothing designer who designed Michele Obama's inaugural ball gown) and the Integrity Toys design team, FR2 dolls have a totally re-sculpted body with greater posability and improved proportions.

The line includes favorite characters as well as new ones.

The doll shown here is Modern Sensibility Dasha from the FR2 line. She is being produced in a limited edition of only 300 dolls worldwide, and she has a suggested retail of $175.00. She is estimated to be released in March of 2011.

Cordelia by Joan Greene - Greene & Lam Studios

It's always exciting to see a new line of dolls debut, and so I was very excited to see The Cordelia Collection debut at IDEX 2011. The Cordelia Collection is being produced by Greene & Lam Studios, and the dolls and outfits are designed by Joan Greene who is best known for development, manufacturing, and marketing of Mel Odom's Gene doll for Ashton-Drake Galleries. The doll shown is Cordelia Shumaker, a character developed my Ms.

Greene. Cordelia's story starts in 1910 and the clothing for the dolls will be from that era forward. The dolls are scheduled for production later this year and are estimated to sell for approximately $150 (possibly higher or lower; exact prices have not been set yet). The dolls are going to have detailed accessories, and will fit clothing also designed for The Vault, another new Greene & Lam doll line.

Melisande by Hildegard Gunzel

You can usually find me at one point at each IDEX standing slack-jawed in awe in front of the beautiful dolls created by doll artist Hildegard Gunzel. Melisande by Hildegard Gunzel is part of a set of dolls titled Melisande and Perceval, a special Museum Edition created by Ms. Gunzel for her 2011 collection. They are limited to 10 pairs worldwide, and have a suggested retail of $16,200 per pair. The dolls are made of porcelain.

Melisande is clothed in a virtual riot of color. The entire 2011 collection is full of color--a contrast to the usually more subdued hues that Ms. Gunzel generally uses for her palate of color. The title of the 2011 collection is "Dolls - A Special Kind of Art." Says Ms. Gunzel in her 2011 catalog: "The colors mark them (the dolls) as street artists, as wandering people. Even if their clothing is stylistically guided by a century gone-by, they do not have to originate necessarily from this epoch, they could just as well be contemporary people wearing a costume."

Persian Bluette was released by Ruby Red Galleria as an IDEX special limited edition of only 50 dolls. Persian Bluette is a ball-jointed vinyl reproduction of the popular Bluetee dolls made in France and sold for over 50 years in the early 20th century. With a suggested retail of $260, Persian Bluetee comes with a wig, complete outfit, eyes, and a second face sculpt (the faces are interchangable).

Legolas Greenleaf actually premiered at the end of last year. He stands 17" tall, and he fits all Matt O'Neill clothing. He has an Orlando Bloom head sculpt, with pale blonde hair and blue eyes, and his ears feature an Elvish sculpt (they are pointed). Legolas is dressd as he was in the movie The Fellowhip of the Ring. He comes with his Cape from Lothlorien and a sculpted brooch, vambrace, qauiver wit, 3 arrows and bow and faux leather boots.

His suggested retail is $159.99.
