Cleaning and Maintaining Your Household With a Few Simple Steps

House Cleaning is often thought of as a great burden by some.
Depending on our own personal situations, our homes may require a lot of attention or it may require a simple spot cleaning and tidying up here and there.
Whether your house is in desperate need of a make-over or not, here are a few simple steps that can be taken to help you achieve better cleaning efficiency and overall effectiveness.
First of all make sure that when you pull something out, it immediately goes right back where it belongs once you're done using it.
Whether it's the dishes that should be washed and put away, a book that should go back onto the shelf, or a movie that should be placed in its proper area when you're done watching it.
This one simple concept applies to most all loose items we own and will save you time and energy of having to pick them up days, weeks or even months later.
I find this to be the case most often when that "thing" has finally gotten in my way and encourages me to put it back where it belongs.
I call this step: Remove & Return.
This is a simple step for preventing clutter build up.
It can be highly effective in keeping your household environment tidy and free from excess clutter if practiced daily.
How many times a day do you find yourself pulling things out, setting them down somewhere, and forgetting about them? This will save you further frustrations of having tons of items to put back when you have other cleaning priorities to attend to.
Before you venture out to start cleaning, make sure you have everything you will need for all of the areas you will be cleaning prepped and ready to go before hand.
You might consider getting a plastic carry-all bin to take with you room to room, that holds all the supplies you will need.
What supplies you use are up to you and some are better than others for areas where you will be cleaning.
The most common supplies to have however are cleaning cloths, all-purpose cleaners, window cleaners, spot cleaners, bleaches for heavy duty stains and a trash bag to avoid going back and forth to the garbage can.
Being organized will save you the time of finishing one area, then having to go and search for the supplies for the next.
This step really helps with your speed, allowing you to get the job done faster while still maintaining efficiency and effectiveness.
When everything is in its proper place, and you're prepared with your cleaning supplies it's time to start the actual cleaning process.
The method I tend to use most often is to start from the top of a room and to work my way down.
Starting from the high up places like shelves and ceiling corners and cleaning out the dust and cobwebs helps to ensure the safety of the floor from getting dirty again from falling dust.
After the ceiling corners and high up areas, you can pretty much start from anywhere based upon your own preferences.
It does help to know that it's best to work on one room at a time, and complete it before moving on to another.
Getting one room completely cleaned vs.
getting multiple rooms half cleaned is much more effective.
House cleaning may often feel like a daunting task but its overall benefits far outweigh the initial work required.
The key here is consistency in the use of simple methods to maintain long-term cleanliness.
Picking up after ourselves, being prepared to clean, and cleaning strategically all come together to make our jobs of cleaning house much easier.
Consistency will help to build healthy habits eventually making these methods second nature.
Not only will you be able to cover more ground by following these few simple and practical steps you will also be able to effectively maintain and upkeep a cleanly household environment for you and your family to enjoy.
