Nursing Scholarships for Washington State Residents
- According to the U.S. News & World Report, the University of Washington School of Nursing is the top-ranked nursing school in the country and, as of 2010, has been in the top slot every year since 1993. The school is large and well funded, and offers an extensive variety of financial aid grants, including over 50 scholarships, to UW students at all levels of study.
- Though not as highly ranked as the University of Washington School of Nursing, the Washington State University College of Nursing is the second-best ranked nursing school in the State of Washington, coming in at No. 63 among nursing schools nationwide, according to rankings by U.S. News & World Report. The college offers numerous scholarships to students, and you can apply for all of them through a single form on the WSU website.
- The Washington State Nurses Foundation offers an annual $1,000 scholarship to a small number of qualifying applicants. To be eligible, undergraduate students in the state must have already completed 12 credits of nursing courses in an approved nursing program, and graduate students must be admitted to an approved graduate nursing program.
- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services administers a Nursing Scholarship Program to help students with financial need complete an education in nursing. The scholarship is very generous and covers tuition, fees, a monthly stipend and many other expenses. In exchange for this aid, upon becoming a registered nurse, you will have to complete at least two years of professional service in an eligible health care facility with a critical shortage of nurses.
