- 1). Click the "Join" button and join a channel with operator permissions. If you get messages from someone you do not wish to hear from, record the screen name.
- 2). Click in the text box, type "/whois (nickname)" and press "Enter" to display more information about the user, including his or her Internet Service Provider (ISP). Blacklisting users without using their ISP in the command allows them to log out of the system and log back in or use other techniques to regain entry into the channel.
- 3). Type in "/mode #mychat +b (user's nickname and ISP)" and press the "Enter" button to blacklist the user from the channel. An example is "/mode #mychat +b johnsmith@wm3.dx.comcast.com" (without the quotations).
