Home Remedy for Yeast Infection: Plain Yogurt

If you think that you can manage it, try a home remedy for yeast infection before going to see a doctor.
A yeast infection or candidiasis typically occurs when the quantity of yeast present in the vagina increases.
As a result, the abnormal quantity of yeast can irritate the lining of the vagina.
Its symptoms include itching, swelling and soreness in the vagina and the vulva.
A thick, white discharge that looks like cottage cheese can also occur.
Yeast or candida infections can also cause pain during urination and sexual intercourse.
Yogurt is a popular home remedy for this infection.
The good bacteria in yogurt can help fight yeast.
One of the causes of the sudden multiplication of yeast is the decrease of the natural bacteria found in the vagina and yogurt can help restore this balance.
You can eat the yogurt, as the probiotics in it can have beneficial effects not only for your yeast infection but also for your digestion.
However, yogurt as a home remedy for yeast infection is more effective when used directly on the vagina itself.
Take a tampon and dip it in yogurt.
Insert this into the vagina.
Do this two times a day until the itching and swelling disappears.
Do this regimen for one more day after the symptoms have cleared up, just to be on the safe side.
More importantly, remember to use plain, unflavored and unsweetened yogurt as yeast feeds on sugar and will only make your yeast infection worse.
If the symptoms still do not let up, then it is best to go see a doctor.
