Bracing a Sagging Shelf

    • 1). Remove the contents of your shelf and then the shelf itself.

    • 2). Use a stud finder to identify areas of your wall you should avoid drilling into. Consult your stud finder's user manual if you're unsure how to do this.

    • 3). Place a ruler on your existing shelf supports and draw a line on your wall from one to the other.

    • 4). Position the top of your shelf brackets on the your wall so as they meet the line you've marked. Then, mark their screw holes on the wall using a pencil.

    • 5). Drill holes where you've marked your bracket's screw holes on the wall. Then, inset your rawl plugs.

    • 6). Screw your brackets into place.

    • 7). Replace your shelf and its contents.
