How to Remove a Credit Card Offer
- 1). Go to www.optoutprescreen.com. Endorsed by the Federal Trade Commission, this service will enable you to opt-out of prescreened credit card and insurance offers.
- 2). Click on the blue "Opt-In or Opt-Out" button located on the bottom of the page.
- 3). Notice that you have two options. If you wish to opt-out of credit card offers temporarily, select "Electronic Opt-Out for Five Years." If you wish to opt-out of credit card offers permanently, select "Permanent Opt-Out by Mail."
- 4). Fill out the form on the next page. This is required for both options. You will need to give your name, address and date of birth. While providing your social security number will aid in the process, it is not required. Once you have filled out the application, press confirm. If you have selected "Electronic Opt-Out for Five Years," you are finished. Otherwise, proceed to Step 5.
- 5). Print out and complete the "Permanent Opt-Out Election" form. Signed confirmation is required for opting-out of credit card offers permanently. Mail the form to the address provided in order to complete your request.
