How to Turn off Attributes for OpenOffice
- 1). Click on the highlighted buttons at the top of the page to turn off text attributes. For example, the buttons with the letters "B," "I" and "U" stand for bold, italics and underline, respectively. Click any of these buttons to turn off the corresponding attribute. Hover over the different buttons and text appears to tell you what attribute they represent.
- 2). Click "View" at the top-left of the screen, then select "Toolbars" if you do not see a button for the format you want to turn off. This will show you a list of all of the different toolbars, or sets of buttons, available to turn off attributes. Toolbars in the list without a check mark next to them are hidden from view. Click on the toolbar you want to see and it appears at the top of the screen. Click on any highlighted buttons to turn off the corresponding attribute.
- 3). Click "Format" at the top-left of the screen, then move your cursor to "Autocorrect" in the drop-down list and click "While Typing" to turn off automatic correction. This is the attribute that automatically corrects words that it thinks you misspelled.
