Cheap Auto Insurance Companies in California

California is literally crawling with drivers who are desperate to find cheap auto insurance companies.
The interesting thing is, there are several cheap companies which every driver can take advantage of, but which many drivers seem to over look.
Obviously the best place to find cheap auto coverage is online, there's no question about that.
Online dealers have almost no overhead and the competition is cutthroat - which means that prices are sliced to the bone.
In fact, buying your auto policy online is like getting it at wholesale.
But if you really want the absolutely lowest price you can possibly pay for your auto insurance then you've got to start with the lowest priced policy that it's legal to sell in California and then find ways to discount that online.
The lowest priced auto coverage can't be improved upon.
It's California's Low Cost Automobile Insurance Program, better known as CLCA.
This is a basic liability policy specifically designed for those people who need financial assistance.
In order to qualify for this insurance - which costs under $400 a year - you must meet certain eligibility requirements.
To see if you qualify simply call (toll free) 1-866-602-8861.
If you don't qualify for the CLCA program don't despair.
California has a basic liability policy that anyone can qualify for and which is just about as cheap.
It's California's 15/30/5 liability policy.
If you're at fault in an accident this policy pays a maximum of $15,000 toward the medical bills of any one person who is injured and it pays a maximum of $30,000 if two or more people suffer an injury.
It also pays a maximum of $5,000 toward the repair of the other person's vehicle and for any other property damage.
Obviously this insurance is somewhat risky because of its low payouts.
In even a moderate-sized accident medical payments can be well in excess of $15,000 per person and $5,000 will barely pay for a dented fender on many modern vehicles.
If medical or property damage bills exceed what this insurance pays then YOU could be liable to pay the remainder out of your own pocket or purse.
Also, a basic liability policy pays nothing for your injuries or for any injuries to any passengers in your vehicle, nor does it pay for the repair of your vehicle.
Still, a cheap basic liability policy makes it 100% legal for you to drive in California and, as mentioned before, if you check online and make price comparisons at several of the websites that encourage you to compare auto insurance prices here in California, you should be able to find even a basic liability policy at wholesale prices.
