How to Pay Your Credit Card Bill On Time Every Time

    • 1). Know the date that your credit card payment is due each month and plan to send in your payment at least two weeks in advance. Having a consistent date to remember makes it easier to do this each month.

    • 2). Place a sticky note on your desk at home and at work to remind you of the payment date -- that is the date to send the payment in, not when the actual payment is due. You can also write the payment date in your pocket calendar or daily planner.

    • 3). Program a reminder in your cell phone two weeks in advance of your credit card payment due date, and do this for each month of the year. The cell phone will ring to remind you of this event. Just remember to react to the reminder.

    • 4). Have a credit card statement mailed to you, as well as an electronic credit card statement emailed to you each month. Some credit card companies will not allow both types of statements to be sent, so decide which one is better, if that is case.

    • 5). Have your credit card payment taken out for your checking account automatically each month so you won't have to think about it again. All credit card companies offer this service. Just make sure you have the balance in your checking account when the payment is due.

    • 6). If you are going to miss a mailed payment, then you will have to resort to making a payment online. This is fine, but most credit card companies charge of fee for this service, which is usually around $10 to $12 on top of what your payment is.

    • 7). Pay more than the minimum payment to get the credit card paid off faster. Then you will not have to worry about remembering the due date any longer.
