Selecting the Right Car Rental Option for You

People all across the country rent vehicles for a variety of reasons.
Some people rent them as a mode of transportation while on vacation, as a replacement mode of transportation when their vehicle is being repaired, or as a mode of transportation to prevent wear and tear on their own vehicle as in the case of a business trip.
No matter what you reason is for wanting to rent a car, there are a few car type options that you have when renting a car.
Choosing the right one for you will determine how much you spend on both the rental and in most cases gasoline.
Compact cars are one option that you have when renting a car.
Compact cars are known to be fuel efficient which makes them a popular choice if you plan on taking a long road trip and want to save money on gas.
The disadvantage of renting a compact car is they usually do not have a whole lot of room in the interior as well as smaller trunk space.
Less leg room on a long trip can mean a trip that can be uncomfortable.
Also, the smaller trunk space means that you have less room to carry luggage along for the trip.
Another option that you have when renting a vehicle is mid-sized cars.
Mid-size cars generally have more leg room and a larger trunk space.
This is a better choice for you if you plan on traveling with your family.
Mid-sized cars do typically have larger engines in order to accommodate for the larger vehicle which means more money spent in gas.
Mid-sized vehicles are the better choice if you are most interested in comfort as opposed to the better gas mileage that you would get with a compact car.
Vans and SUVs are yet another option that you have when renting a vehicle.
Vans and SUVs allow for you to not only have more leg room; you also get more room to carry extra passengers and cargo.
This is a perfect choice if you are traveling with a large family or group.
Vans and SUVs, much like mid-sized cars, have larger engines to be able to haul the larger payload.
This can mean more money spent on gasoline and less gas mileage than you would get from either a mid-size car or compact car.
Choosing the right rental car option for you should be carefully considered based on the size of family or group you have, the amount of luggage or cargo you will be toting around, and the type of gas mileage you would like to have.
Larger rental vehicles do often carry a higher rental fee and should also be considered before making a rental car decision.
If you are unsure what option to go with, consult your rental car representative for assistance.
Car rental companies often run specials on particular types of vehicles making them a better choice based on price.
