How to Configure a Microsoft Certificate Server

    • 1). Click the Windows "Start" button on your server and select "Control Panel." Double-click the "Add or Remove Programs" icon in the Control Panel. This opens a list of applications and Windows components installed on the machine.

    • 2). Click the button labeled "Add/Remove Windows Components." This lists the Windows components for your server. Check the box labeled "Certificate Services."

    • 3). Click "Yes" on the opened warning dialog box. A configuration wizard window opens. Click "Next" in the opening window.

    • 4). Select "Enterprise root CA" and click "Next." Enter your network's internal Windows domain name and click "Next" again.

    • 5). Click "Yes" on the warning screen that tells you the Internet Information Services (IIS) host needs to be stopped for the certificate server component to install. Click "Yes" to enable Application Service Provider (ASP) services and click "Yes." The certificate server component is configured and installed on the computer.
