Yoga to Boost Fertility

Stressful schedules, hectic work routines, long hours of commute and deadlines can all take a toll on our fertility. Apart from making lifestyle changes and modifications in diet, you can consider yoga as a means to boost your fertility.

Yoga is holistic, and brings good health and peace of mind. Seek a good teacher, practise yoga regularly and you will see the results for yourself. Some of the benefits of yoga for women are as follows:
  • Yoga pumps more blood to the uterus. There are certain poses that open up your thighs and hips, and ensures that more blood flows into the lower parts of the body. There are yogic poses where you have to balance your legs up against a wall, which boosts blood circulation to the reproductive organs
  • Pranayama, which is a breathing technique, along with meditation, lowers stress and boosts your immune system. It aids in making your stronger and peaceful, helping you conceive faster

Here are some asanas that help you boost female fertility
  • Viparita karani:This pose, also called ‘legs up the wall' pose, helps you stretch your back, torso (front) and the back of your legs. It relieves backaches and boosts blood flow to your pelvic area. This exercise is said to boost your fertility
  • Marjaraasana:The cat pose, wherein you need to sit on your fours, leaning forward, and placing your palms on the ground, is good for menstruation problems. It is good for all your uro-genital problems. Make sure you inhale while looking up and your spine is caved in. While exhaling, you would need to look down, and arch your spine up
  • Paschimottanasana: The pose, where you are seated and make a forward bend, helps stretch your lower back, hips and hamstring. The forward bend also helps stimulate the uterus and your ovaries. The exercise relieves depression and stress, and boost fertility

There are some poses that are ideal for men, including the cobra pose and the ‘downward facing dog' pose, which are ideal to boost sperm production. The cobra pose, called bhujangasana, is one wherein you lie on your belly, and slowly raise your head and arch your back and head. The palms should be firmly on the ground. The adho mukha svanasana, or the downward facing dog, is a forward bend wherein your hips are pushed up, and the body is in an inverted V-position. Your back should be straight and your toes should touch the floor. Your hands should stretch and palms should be on the floor.

Also, try yoga nidra, or the yogic sleep pose wherein you lie flat on the floor and relax your body, helps calm you down, and improves fertility among men and women.

No matter what pose, seek the advice of a yoga practitioner or an expert before you start. There are certain poses that you should not try if you have conditions like epilepsy, severe back problems or blood pressure, so it is best to seek medical guidance before you take up yoga for infertility treatment in Bangalore.
