Guitar Warm Up Exercise

One of the significant parts of being an incredible guitar player is a simple guitar warm up routine. I cannot stress to you newbie players how vital it is that you just warm up before each play session. I know that you are excited to learn songs, but you must understand that the warm up is going to strengthen your fingers, forearms, picking hand, and it will help you develop great habits. So, always devote some time to warming up, even if it's only for 5 minutes.

Among my favorite exercises to warm up with is what I will call the 1- 2- 3- 4 step ladder. I totally just made that up instantly because I don't know the accurate name for this warm-up. Nevertheless what you need to do is you start with your fingering hand(the one that holds down the strings) and you place it at the 1st fret(the fret closest to the end of the neck) .

You first place your first finger on the first fret on the largest string. With the string held down, pick the string with the other hand.

Now, the next move is to have the 2nd finger and place it on the 2nd fret on the identical string. Therefore, you'll be putting your 2nd finger near your trusty index finger, essentially. Now pick the identical string once more. Make sure that the note is sounding clear. It might hurt to press down, but that's the reason why you warm up every day: ) It is important to get your fingers used to this sensation and to strengthen them.

The next step is to put the third finger on the 3rd fret of the very same fat string. Once again, pick the string ensuring that it is always sounding good. Are you starting to learn the routine here? I hope so! I am sorry for not providing pictures or video tutorials. It is usually pretty hard to describe in words, but if you understand finger placements on the guitar, you should be able to figure it out!

The next move could be the toughest. You must take the pinky and place it on the 4th fret of the fattest string! It will be a tough stretch for you, but it is WAY worth exercising. There are numerous musicians that overlook their pinky. Do not neglect the pinky. If you do, you'll regret it further down the road. Learn to appreciate the pinky and use it as frequently as possible. You'll be impressed at how strong it will become!

For the next step, you're going to duplicate this complete routine for the next string. So, take your trusty first finger and place it at the 1st fret on the second fattest string(the 5th string) . Strum it and then move on to your middle finger, ring finger, and then pinky again.

Do this routine on all the strings for this warm-up. Repeat this exercise the opposite way if you wish. This is a great warm up that will basically make you a much better guitar player than 95% of beginners out there.

Most novice guitarists don't practice the right way. One of the keys to proper exercise is correct form. It is necessary that you do this warm up every single day before playing to produce strength and great habits. I still do this warm-up daily. I assure that you will have excellent speed and strength within just 1 month of doing this which will make you an excellent country guitar player.
